This year will count as 10 years of that horrific day. I'm amazed that its been 10 years already since that event happened on that day. I was just thinking that we've had such other big deals that have happened to this country in the past besides 9/11. We've had the Oklahoma Building get partly destroyed, Pear Harbor attack that started before WWII. (I'm sure it was before that war). Yet we focus on this tragic event since it happened way back in 2001. I even thought they would cancel the Winter Olympics due to the terrorism in the world. Though it went still went on, though with higher security.
I read the opinion page in the Salt Lake Tribune newspaper today and the author figured it was long enough to grief over this incident that happened 10 years ago. That it was time to move on with our lives, that we won't forget but to accept what happened on that day and think of more positive ways to celebrate Patriot Day besides watching the reenactment of the events and the people that day were looking. Do you agree with the author that we should accept what happened on that day as part of the grieving process and still remember, but not focus so much of the tragedy still as if it still happened that day?
This photo below is about a tragic day that happened on September 11, 2001. It was on top of an enormous building called the World Trade Center (WTC). The reason why it ended up on the ground is because, one of two commercial airplanes crashed into the building, the building then caught on fire, stood for a short time and then came falling straight down to the ground. Several days later the rescue team, which consisted of firefighters, found the American flag still in one piece and still on the flag pole.
This picture means a great deal to me because it shows that even though the World Trade Center in the background is gone, the three firefighters are glad to have found the flag, to be proud to be Americans, that we are still here, and to remember those who have died on that horrific day.
