Sing to your heart content!

Do you ever feel like singing? Every once a while this song sang from the singers called, "The Carpenters" sang this song, "Sing a Song".  I remember it being played on Sesame Street when I was a young child.

If you forgot the lyrics to this song here is the words.

Sing, sing a song

Sing out loud, sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad

Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Just sing, sing a song

La la la la la
La la la la la la...
Sing, sing a song
Let the world sing along

Sing of love there could be
Sing for you and for me
Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last your whole life long

Don't worry that it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Just sing, sing a song
Just sing, sing a song
Just sing, sing a song

La la la la la
La la la la la la...

We have songs to sing.  They are not just meant to read and hear someone else to sing.

We have wonderful songs that celebrate the season, holiday, gratitude, families, etc.  We should sing when we are able to.  It doesn't matter if you sound good enough to be in the choir, hearing your voice will bring you happiness to your soul and to everyone else around you.

For when you sing, you are praising the Lord and he loves to hear you sing.  So the next time you feel like singing, sing a song!

Communication is the Key!

Communication has been around since the beginning of time.  There have been various ways of talking to each other over the years.  Early in the years there have been scrolls, paintings, face to face, smoke signals, Morse code, letter writing (pencil or pen), telegraph, typing on type writer, typing on a computer (Word Perfect), email, text messages, skype, and body language.

That is my purpose of this blog is a way of communicating to you my thoughts that come to my mind.  I could send it out the long way by paper and pen but, its a lot faster this way.

We have various groups that communicate with each other
  1. Teacher to Student.
  2. Parent to Child.
  3. Friend to Friend.
  4. Spouse to Spouse.
  5. Employer to Employee.
  6. Sibling to Sibling.
  7. Country to Country.
  8. Nation to Nation.
If we are to get along with each other and not break friendships, relationships, fights, then we need to communicate with each other.

Its sad that war, failing in grade, divorces, enemies,  is the cause of miss communication.

If we communicate with each other more better, we can have more of love and peace.

The present day of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

We are celebrating a famous man, Martin Luther King Jr.  He had a dream that was where he saw everyone as an equal.

I would wonder what it would be like having segregation at schools, buses, stores, restaurants, etc.  Where only whites would use one side and color would use the other side.  But, sad to say is that it what happened for a while and everyone was in agreement with it.  Until one day some honorable people took the stand and realized that things in the USA had to change.  With that it didn't come easy for people on both sides.  There was death, injuries, hatred, burnings, etc.

Now in the present day we don't have that type of segregation going on in those places but, I'm sure its evil head is lurking around the corner ready to take action no matter what! Discrimination is not gone but still present.  It may not be visible to the eye of the beholder but it still remains.  Discrimination is wrong and against the law! It hurts you, your family, friends, co workers, communities, cities, nation and the world.

The Lord sees everyone as an equal no matter if they are a slave, prisoner, male, female, young, old, etc. If you have a problem with discrimination get it fixed.  For there is no love in discrimination only hate.

I'm small on the outside but big on the inside!

I was born with a unique situation.  My heart wasn't functioning right.  Apparently one of the valves was broken which made the blood flow the wrong way and as a result I was very weak and very tired a lot of the times.  The doctors didn't know about the situation till I was about 7 years of age.

On the first day of my trip to Children's Hospital I wanted to stay home and watch Saturday morning cartoons.  I wasn't to thrilled to go to the hospital.  I figured if I put up a fuss they would turn around and head back home.  Though I stopped after a while realizing that it wasn't working so I stopped making a fuss about it.

I was there for about a week and a half I believe.  I know not more than that or less than that.  I liked my floor which had a playroom down at the end of the hall to play toys and feel like a kid.  As for meals would be served in the hallway just right in front of my door and I had to get breakfast, lunch and dinner that way.  I also had a TV in my room also.

Just prior to my surgery I took one long walk around the hospital outside with my mother and had a blessing just prior to the surgery so that I would be fine.  I had all my family at the time along with some of my relatives.  After that they took me to get worked on.  They put a mask over my mouth and nose and told me to count down from 10 to 1.  I was like whatever, I tried to stay awake, but was out by the time I counted to 3.

During the time of the surgery I was thinking of life in general and was thinking to myself that I wanted to go back home to heaven to take away the pain that I had to go through.  Though I was confronted by the Lord and was told that my mission on earth was not over and this was just a stepping stone in my life, and I needed to return to finish living my life.  So I figured OK, I'll go back and finish living my life.

After the surgery was over, I was thrilled that it was a great success.  A few days later, I along with my mother, took the tape off that the doctor had put over my chest.  At the bottom of the tape that the doctors had done, there was a needle and thread that was used to sew my skin back up and I pulled out the needle and thread.  On the day I was heading out of the hospital and back home I took baby steps for my body wasn't quite used to running around quite yet.

As a result of the whole surgery my growth has been stumped.  If I had a choice to either live with a defective heart, possible death anytime, and grow taller or have a new heart, long life, and be small size,
I would take the chance of a new heart, long life and be small size.

I've had many times wishing I was taller but realizing that I've had some advantages of being my current height but also some disadvantages as well.  Such as being an arm rest for someone, which I don't like that or being lifted up in the air without any weight to keep my down.

I've been told that even though my physical body may be small but my spirit body may be bigger.

For the Lord looketh on the heart, while man looketh on the outside.
Even though my height may be small, I know that I have affected many lives around the places I go and visit.  I'm glad that my life was not over and I was able to stay here on Earth.  For without me being here I know that my family and friends would be facing different lifestyle to where I wasn't there for them.  The Lord knew this and I'm glad for that experience.

So now matter what your skin color is, your height, weight, hair color, language you speak, we are all one big family and have the responsibility to effect those around us for the good and make them glad that they have met you.

Peer Pressure is a tough choice to make at times.

Peer Pressure is good and bad.  We all want to be included and have friends.  Though it sometimes comes to a decision at times of when we will let peer pressure win or lose.

  • Go to a movie that everyone loves to see or venture to a different movie instead?
  • Wear the latest fad of clothes?
  • Get the latest type of technology?
  • Use bad language just because everyone else is doing it?
  • Recycling trash?
  • Using bus/train/walking instead of driving everywhere?
I know that sometimes I have let peer pressure get the best of me and follow everyone else, but at other times I turn down the peer pressure and say No instead.

Its a hard thing in life involving with friends, society, family and will always be there.  Its our individual choice to decide of what we allow in our lives?

What character are you in Beauty and the Beast?

Its a new year, 2011.  What great stuff lies a head!  I hope you all had a great Christmas and celebrating the New Year as late as you were able to stay up.

We all know the story of Beauty and the Beast.  How do those characters fit our lives?

  • Are we Gaston who is handsome and nice looking on the outside but a monster in the inside?
  • Are we the Beast/Prince who is a monster on the inside and outside?
  • Are we Belle (Beauty) who is handsome on the inside and the outside?
As we see the movie Gaston looks are deceiving.  He may appear to be the popular man in town that gets what he wants and has no heart or care for anyone else but himself.  He dies at the end because he wasn't willing to change his inside to be a better person.

As for the Beast, who was a prince at first, is a bit similar to Gaston but, he was a monster appearance on the outside and inside.  He was also selfish, rude and would lose his temper.  With the help of Belle he was able to change on the inside first and then once he was no longer a monster in the inside and was able to have someone love him as who he was regardless of appearance then he returned back to a handsome prince.

For Belle, who is a beauty on both outside and inside, was cheerful, loving, caring, thought of others beside herself, knew who the real monster was and could see through the Beast.  She tried to help Gaston to be a different person but wasn't able to and could see close to the end that once Gaston wanted to kill the Beast in cold blood, only because he wanted to marry Belle, then she saw who the real monster was all along.  She was able to change the Beast from the inside and made him a better person and then at the last moment of thinking all would be lost Belle was able to make him change back to a human form (prince).

What does this all have to do with us? Well, I hope that we are more like Belle and the Beast and less like Gaston.  That the way to others is not by being selfish, rude, ignorant, etc. but by being nice, loving, caring and would seem less like a monster to someone and more of a human who is loving and caring.

If we need help from being a monster to a handsome person then we ask for help from our family, friends and the Lord.
