Men and Women dress modestly!

Summer is here and sometimes people like to have layer of clothes to thin for the body and like to show more skin then needs to be.  It drives me crazy to see guys working on the yard or jogging down the street with no shirt on.  It makes me want to throw a bucket of water on them and saying, "Hey put on a shirt, will you please?"  Yeah the guy looks handsome looking, but they can still do what they are doing with a shirt on instead of having it taken off!

Here are some pictures that show how we should dress.  Not to say that as men to go around wearing dress shirt and tie and women going around wearing dresses like its Sunday everyday, but enough that its best to not show much skin instead to show more clothing and less skin.  You can wear swim wear just try to pick the clothing that shows less skin and more clothing.  That goes for both men and women!

Going back to college.

I will be going back to college this week.  I will try and update my blog as much but it will most likely be on a Sunday when I have no homework to deal with.  Thanks for your friendship for being my friend and brother or sister to me.

Some Latter-day Saint laughter.

We all need to laugh at times at something that is funny.  As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I laugh when using a lingo and someone else thinks it totally different.
"I'm going over to the Stake Center for a fireside on Sunday". To some that might mean going to a building that serves steak for eating or stakes for tents to be used at a campfire for the night.  What it actually means is that it’s a church building that is usually bigger than our church buildings and is going to have a spiritual meeting that Sunday evening.  There is no stakes for tents served or steaks for eating.  They will have refreshments after the meeting is over.
"I'm going to do baptisms for the dead".  Now that doesn't mean that I'm going to go to a cemetery and bring up a casket and pour water on them or put their body in a bucket of water.  What it means is going up to the temple and stand as a proxy for that person who is dead and be put completely underwater and then come back up.
If you ever heard this one, to where I was drug to the church services, drug to fireside, drug to Family Home Evening (FHE), drug to Seminary, drug to Institute, drug to the temple.  That has nothing to do with drugs at all.  That just means I was dragged by walking to church services, fireside, FHE, Seminary, Institute and to the temple.
Family Home Evening is where the family gets together usually on a Monday night or Sunday night.  As a family usually have prayer and song to bring in the Holy Ghost.  We also have a lesson that discusses what we need to improve our lives on or any family business that needs to be discussed.  After words we close with another prayer to end the lesson to a close.  Then afterwards we usually have treats or do an activity.  It’s a way to bring the family closer to each other.
There are pages usually in our church magazines: New Era, Ensign and Friend that usually have a page just for laughter and jokes to be told.  To say that we should not have jokes or laugh about anything involved with the church then it will be a strict religion with boredom.  We need to have laughter.  Yes, some things should not be laughed about.  We should not have to restrict 100% to every LDS thing to not be laughed about. I think some take it to extreme and others not extreme enough.  So let us laugh for that is the way to live a happy life.
My final joke:  I'm going home teaching tonight by teaching my home how to behave when visitors are stopping by for a visit, how to learn to read the weather, teach it how to count and learn the alphabet.

The Big Storm the came in and left destruction in its path.

To anyone who hasn't heard there was a big huge wind storm last week Thursday.  Wind gusts were up to 108 in Centerville, UT, which is about hurricane wind symptoms.  I had to trek through the wind to get to the bus stop, which was freezing cold and felt like I was going against a wind machine.  Later that night and the next day found out of how much damage was done.  There was uprooted trees, fences broken, trash everywhere, some cars smashed, some roofs off of houses, and few businesses lost part of their signs.  A Front runner Station in Farmington was badly damaged along with the camping site of Lagoon.  As we went through the trash there was a sign that we found which said, "Come and celebrate the Handcart Day Brunch on July 23, 2011. Property of Dick's Market".   Thank goodness there was no fatality or death of anyone.
The National Guard came to help out on Sunday to pick up the derbies.  There was a second storm that came on Sunday night, but wasn't as bad as was the first storm.  It took 5 days for power to come all the way back on in Bountiful.  We got our electricity back on Friday morning.

Pioneer Day Remembrance

This coming Sunday is Pioneer Day, a state holiday celebrated here in Utah, which usually falls on the 24 of each year but, because of a holiday being on a Sunday we get to have a Monday off also.  YEAH!!!

Anyway what is a pioneer?  A pioneer is a person who is one of the first to explore a new region or subject as a noun; be the first to explore, use, or develop as a verb.  This is from the Oxford dictionary.

So with that definition does that mean there are no more pioneers? No, that doesn't.  Yes, we think about those mostly of those who traveled long time ago in covered wagons and went through a lot of trials and hardships to get here to a new land which was later called Utah.

Not only are there pioneers from way back then in that time period but, also now we have pioneers today.  It may be a family member that you know of that has decided to take the step of being a pioneer.  They should get the same respect as the pioneers from way back then.  Some have risked their lives, been shunned from their families, friends, neighbors, etc.  just because they wanted to take a change in their life and be a pioneer.  Congratulations to those who have taken that step in a new way of their life.

Take the time to thank those who have ventured out to be a pioneer if you know of anyone.   I'm sure we will have pioneers in the future as well.

Happy Pioneer Day!!!

If you haven't seen "17 Miracles" I would encourage you to do so.  Its a true story about a trek of pioneers along the trail to Utah and of how miracles were to shown to them along the way.  It made me cry when it was showing all the ways that several of them died.

Falling asleep in church services, mainly Sacrament Meeting.

I know that Sunday is a day of rest, from what the 10 Commandments tell us.  That we should take the Sabbath Day and make it a holy day and be rest from our labors.  For some reason when I was younger I wouldn't fall asleep as much during Sacrament Meeting but, now for some reason I'm so tired and exhausted that I can't stay awake during Sacrament Meeting.  I do try and stay awake.  I do sing the hymns and listen to the prayers but I usually lay my head down on the bench in front of me and just close my eyes but leave my ears open.   I'm sure there are several of you out there that do the same thing I do.  Try and fall asleep while we get told to stay awake and listen to the speaker.  The most embarrassing would be is to be up by the podium and falling asleep and making the podium go up and down to the speaker.  I hope that won't happen to any of us.
